Two men were killed and four other people were taken to local hospitals after an eight-vehicle crash at the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Doris Avenue in Oxnard, according to the information provided by the Oxnard Police Department. The collision occurred at about 3:54 p.m. on September 25, 2026. Police officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, where they found extensive damage across the intersection.
Four of the eight vehicles involved sustained major damage. Two drivers were trapped inside their vehicles and were later pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased men were 31 and 58 years old and both lived in Oxnard. Their names are being withheld while authorities notify their families.
Oxnard Police traffic investigators say their preliminary investigation indicates that a 29-year-old Santa Paula resident, identified as David Mora, was driving a 2018 GMC Sierra pickup northbound on Victoria Avenue. Investigators believe the pickup entered the intersection against a red light at Doris Avenue.
At the same time, a 2005 Honda Civic and a 1998 Toyota Avalon were traveling westbound through the intersection on a green light. The pickup collided with both cars, setting off a chain of impacts involving several vehicles nearby.
The collision’s force sent the Toyota Avalon north on Victoria Avenue and into a Southern California Edison pole in the center median. The pole broke loose at its base and fell onto the Avalon. The car then continued forward and struck a southbound Chevrolet Volt that was waiting in the left-turn lane at Doris Avenue.
The Honda Civic and the GMC Sierra were also thrown into the air and came to rest on the center median. During the crash, the Civic rolled over the side and roof of a Nissan Rogue that had been stopped in the southbound left-turn lane. The Honda and pickup became entangled as they landed and then struck a 2014 GMC Terrain. The impact pushed the Terrain backward into a 2010 Ford Fusion and a 2025 Toyota RAV4, which were stopped behind it.
Four people involved in the collision suffered minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals. The driver and passenger of the GMC Terrain reported pain, as did the driver of the Nissan Rogue. No injuries were reported in the Chevrolet Volt, Ford Fusion, or Toyota RAV4. The two drivers who died were inside the Toyota Avalon and Honda Civic. Authorities have not released their names, pending notification of their next of kin.
Police investigators believe speed and possible impairment by alcohol and/or drugs may have contributed to the crash. These are preliminary findings, and the investigation remains ongoing. No further conclusions about responsibility should be drawn until investigators complete their work.
